Libya Olympiad in Informatics
The International Olympiad in Informatics is an annual competitive programming competition and one of the International Science Olympiads for secondary school students. The first IOI was held in 1989 in Pravetz, Bulgaria.
The Libyan Academy for Telecom and Informatics has organized the lOI in Libya since 2023, engaging more than 2000 school students in this vibrant community of young coders and thinkers.
Beaver Competition
The Beaver Competition, the first stage of the Libyan Olympiad in Informatics, is an international initiative aimed at promoting computer science and computational thinking among school students of all ages. The competition is organized in over 60 countries (with 3 million participants) and is designed to inspire students to study computer science. Each participant has 45 minutes to answer 10 interactive questions focused on logical thinking.
It is organized and implemented by the Libyan Academy of Communications and Informatics in partnership with the Ministry of Education – Libya, and sponsored by the Holding Company for Communications. This Olympiad is part of national initiatives aimed at supporting technical education and encouraging innovation and creativity among Libyan youth.
Students from various regions and schools participate in this event, competing in an atmosphere of challenge and excitement. The competitions are organized in several stages, starting with local phases, then regional, and concluding with national stages, providing young talents the opportunity to showcase their abilities and qualify for international competitions.
